What’s in a sermon?

A sermon is more than just words—it’s a call to action, a sacred connection, and an opportunity to reflect, grow, and challenge the way we see the world. Rooted in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, my sermons are unapologetically designed to ignite discovery, inspire hope, and deepen our understanding of faith and community.

Each message is crafted with purpose, drawing from my training at Union Theological Seminary, where I learned the transformative power of queer, feminist, liberation, and disability theologies. These perspectives are not optional—they are essential for creating a faith that is inclusive, authentic, and reflective of the diverse world we live in.

In my sermons, I prioritize the social and historical context of scripture, examining the cultural, political, and religious forces that shaped its creation. This work is vital—it enriches our understanding and allows sacred texts to speak to us in ways that challenge, inform, and inspire us today.

My goal is simple: to make these teachings accessible, relevant, and transformative. Sermons should spark dialogue, deepen faith, and encourage spiritual growth. They are an invitation to think critically, engage fully, and connect deeply with ourselves, our communities, and the Divine.

John the Baptist Doesn’t Sugarcoat It!

The Advent season calls us to pause, to prepare, and to hope. But how do we truly ready our hearts for Christ's arrival? This sermon dives into the life and mission of John the Baptist—a voice crying out in the wilderness, challenging us to confront the barriers keeping us from God's transformative presence.

John’s bold message wasn’t comfortable, and it wasn’t meant to be. It was a call to renewal—a demand for repentance and a deeper connection with the divine. His urge us to examine ourselves honestly and to ask: Am I ready for the light Christ brings? Am I making space for that light to shine in me, and through me, into a world that so desperately needs it?

This sermon will inspire you to reflect, prepare, and engage in the spiritual anticipation that Advent invites. Discover how John the Baptist’s revolutionary call can ignite change in your life and in the world around you. Will you answer the call?

What Happened To Eve?

What if we’ve misunderstood Eve all along?

Far from a symbol of sin, Eve represents curiosity, courage, and a deep thirst for life’s fullness. Drawing from Barbara Essex’s bold theology, this sermon invites you to see Eve in a new light—no longer the cause of humanity’s fall, but a guide through the complexities of choice, growth, and grace.

We’re Here, We’re Queer, We’re Worthy.

What if queerness and faith weren’t opposing forces, but beautifully interconnected? This sermon unearths a hidden queer narrative in the book of Genesis and offers a hopeful vision for inclusion and acceptance.
